Mary Ellen Brown
Ratliff, 89, formerly of 1120 College Ave, Bluefield, died Wednesday May 3rd
in a Bluefield Nursing Home.
Born February 17, 1917
in Cove Creek, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Duncan Brown and Annie
Myrtle Spangler Brown. Mrs. Ratliff was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and
was a homemaker. She had lived in Bluefield for 58 years and was the last
surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine R. Ratliff; brothers,
David Brown, Luther Brown, J.R. Brown, Harold Brown, Mack Brown and Archie
Brown; and one sister, Annie Compton.
Survivors include two
sisters-in-law, Nannie K. Brown of Bastian, VA and Cora Brown of Tazewell, VA
and several nieces and nephews.
Cryptside services will
be held Saturday May 6th at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Chapel of the
Wildwood at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Those wishing to attend
the services are asked to meet at the cemetery.
