Bluefield, WV-
Robert W. “Bob” Duvall, 83, 2319 Wythe Avenue, Bluefield, WV, died Wednesday
March 21, 2007 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born December 4, 1923
in Bellaire, OH, he was the son of the late Ralph Duvall and Fannie Wise
Duvall. Mr. Duvall was a graduate of Ohio Northern University and was a former
officer of the Southern Appalachian Pharmaceutical Association. He was very
devoted to his church, his family and to his profession. He served the
Bluefield community for over 45 years while he was a pharmacist at Southside
Pharmacy. Mr. Duvall was a member of First Presbyterian Church and formerly a
member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He served as Elder, Deacon, and
Sunday School Superintendent of both churches.
In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Catharine Dunay.
Survivors include his
wife of 62 years, Mrs. Rhea Duvall; his children, Roger W. Duvall and his wife
Susan of Atlanta, GA, Margy Duvall McFarling and her husband Rod of Chapel Hill,
NC, David J. Duvall and his wife Lora of Morristown, TN, Joel R. Duvall and his
wife Shirley of Carrboro, NC, and Roberta Farmer, who was like a daughter to
him, and her husband Donald of Charleston, WV; one sister, Virginia Bovenizer of
Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Duvall of San Diego, CA, Allie
McFarling of Chapel Hill, NC, Ashley McFarling Schmitz and her husband Brian of
Chicago, IL, Dylan Duvall of Morristown, TN and Matthew and Robert Duvall both
of Carrboro, NC; and two nephews, Jerry and Brice Bovenizer both of Bluefield.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Friday evening March 23rd from 6:00
until 8:00 p.m.
A memorial service will
be held on Saturday March 24, 2007 at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church
with Dr. W. D. Hasty, Jr. officiating.
A private family burial
will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry
Bovenizer, Brice Bovenizer, Todd Smith, Matthew Duvall, Robbie Duvall and Fred
Dodson.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the First Presbyterian Church
Memorial Fund 208 Tazewell Avenue, Bluefield, WV 24701 or to the Bluefield Union
