Bluefield, WV- Mildred H. Bishop, 88, of 1526 Bland Street, Bluefield, WV, died Wednesday February 28, 2007 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

     Born on November 27, 1918 in Kellysville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence G. Bishop and Lillian H. Onks Bishop. 

     Miss Bishop was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bluefield where she helped prepare Wednesday evening meals and was a member of the JoAnn Carter-Jennifer Hancock Circle.  She was a 1940 graduate of Matoaka High School and had been a Secretary for American Electric Power.  She was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the Bluefield Women’s Club. 

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Pansy Oakes Bishop; two brothers, Herbert Hunt Bishop and Clarence Ray Bishop; and two sisters, Betty Carbough and Rose Lee Bowman.

     Survivors include her brothers, Sid Bishop of Okeechobee, FL, Curtis Bishop of Bramwell and Jim Bishop also of Bramwell; and one sister, Shirley Shutt of Sandlick. 

     A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday March 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Bluefield with Rev. Ed Fisher officiating.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1325 Augusta Street, Bluefield, WV 24701.
