Oscar James Bailey, 91, of 509 W. Cumberland Road, Bluefield, WV, died Wednesday
January 17, 2007 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born March 13, 1915 in
Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar James Bailey, Sr..
Mr. Bailey was of the Baptist faith and was an Electronic Equipment Specialist
with GTE Telephone Company. Mr. Bailey also loved to garden and work outside.
In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ona Bailey; two brothers; 2
half-brothers and two half sisters.
Survivors include his
daughter Barbara Gibson of Clearwater, FL; three grandchildren, James A. Granger
of Bluefield, WV, Krista Cain of FL, and Cynthia Gibson of AZ; two
great-grandchildren, J. Preston Granger of Bluefield and Laura Jane Miller of
GA; one great-great grandson, Grant Miller of GA; one niece, Freda Wimmer of
Princeton; and three nephews, Billie Umberger of Princeton, Charles Ray of
Princeton, and Tommy Ray of GA.
Funeral services will
be conducted on Saturday January 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Mercer Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Jimmie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn
Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be family and
friends of the family.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Friday January 19th from 6:00 until
8:00 p.m.
