Bluefield- Beulah A. ”Boots” Raines, 80, of 2509 Grandview Ave. Bluefield, WV, died Monday January 15, 2007 in a Bluefield hospital.

   She was born May 6, 1926 in Huntington, WV, she was a daughter of the late Newton F. and Della Foley Adkins. Mrs. Raines was a graduate of Logan High School, St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington and attended West Virginia University for her Pediatric Nursing Associate Degree and was a former member and choir member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mrs. Raines was formerly employed as a nurse at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, Bluefield Sanitarium and the Children’s Clinic. Beulah was also a member of the Bluefield Chapter #66 Order of Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron of the chapter.

   Survivors include; her husband, Vernal Raines of the home and a sister; Elizabeth Hite of Whitman, WV.

   In accordance with Mrs. Raines’s wishes the body has been cremated and there will be no services. The family has requested there be no food or flowers.

   In lieu of flowers donations may be made, if desired, to the: American Cancer Society, 1808 Jefferson St., Bluefield, WV 24701 or The National Foundation for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 96021, Washington D.C. 20090-6021.
