Bluefield, WV- Tom Thurman Carter, of 116 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, WV, died Saturday February 24, 2007 at Summers Nursing and Rehab Center. 

     Born December 27, 1925 in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late John S. Carter and Dora Richardson Carter.  Mr. Carter had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a buyer for Chad’s.  He was a member of the First Church of God and the Bluefield Moose Lodge.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one brother, L.L. Carter and one sister, Marie Wilson.

     Survivors include two sisters, Zee Walaska of Bluefield and Edith Roberts and her husband John of Lexington, KY; four nephews, Wood Wilson of Winston-Salem, NC, L.L. Carter and his wife Jayme of Princeton, WV, R.C. “Chip” Walaska of North Liberty, Iowa and Johnny Roberts and his wife Pam of Hookset, NH; and two great nephews, Brock Walaska and his wife Rae of Port Orchard, WA and Lou Carter of Princeton, WV.

     There will be no visitation or funeral services for Mr. Carter.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to Bible in the Schools, P.O. Box 543, Bluefield, WV 24701.
