Bluefield - Grethuel Virginia Stamper, 85, of #7 Greenbrier Drive, Holly Hill Estates, Bluefield, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 at a Bluefield hospital.

   Born January 14, 1922 in Glade Spring, VA, she was a daughter of the late William Dante and Mary Alice Woods Buchanan. Mrs. Stamper was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

   In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; James E. Stamper, a loving grandson and granddaughter; Richard O’dell, III and Vicky Glass and four brothers; James Braxton Buchanan, Ambrose Wesley Buchanan, Alexander Buchanan, and Charles Christopher Buchanan.

   Survivors include four daughters; Janie O’dell and husband Richard of Bluefield, VA, Wanda Grim of Bluefield, WV, Barbara Neal and Allen Fuller of Bluefield, WV, Janet Nelson and husband Robert “Butch” of Bluefield, WV, three sisters; Lola White of Hickory, NC, Catherine D. Nowlin of Mt. Airy, NC, Mary Lou Conley Portsmouth, OH, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Stamper will be conducted Tuesday February 20, 2007 at 2 P.M. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Murray officiating. Burial will follow from the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery located in Princeton, WV. Serving, as pallbearers will be Mrs. Stamper’s grandsons.

   Friends may call at the funeral home Monday February 19, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00P.M.
