Nancy J. Ruddell, 77, formerly of 1412 Franklin Street, Bluefield and Ridge
Care, Princeton, passed away and was united with the Lord on Friday February 9,
2007 at Princeton Health Care after a long illness.
Nancy was born in
Bluefield, WV on November 15, 1929, the youngest child of the late George
Preston Ruddell and Maude (Rakes) Ruddell.
A graduate of Beaver
High School, Bluefield College, and Concord College with a B.S. degree in
Education, Nancy taught English at Fairview Junior High and Bluefield Middle
School. She retired from the Mercer County School System in 1989 after 39 years
of teaching. Nancy’s dedication and compassion to her student’s will long be
remembered.
Nancy was a member of
the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of Circle #1, the Alpha Mu
Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher’s sorority, and the Golden Age Club where
she was President at the time of her illness.
In addition to her
parents, Nancy was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Ruddell in 1925 and
John “Jack” Ruddell in 2003.
Survivors include two
brothers, Richard “Dick” Ruddell of Spearfish, SD and Joe Ruddell and wife Pat
of Houston, TX; four nephews, Pres Ruddell and wife Janet of Glastonbury, CT,
Larry Ruddell and wife Aylin of Houston, TX, Jim Ruddell and wife Martha of
Lovettsville, VA, Bill Ruddell and wife Sherry of Houston, TX; three nieces,
Franna Ruddell of Kensington, MD, M’Annette Ruddell and Jane Ruddell both of
Philadelphia, PA; seven great-nephews; four great-nieces; special cousin,
Shirley Thompson and husband Frank of Roanoke, VA; and numerous friends.
A memorial service
celebrating Nancy’s life will be held March
31st at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be
in Mountain View Cemetery on Ruddell Road in Vinton, VA.
