Bluefield-
Charlie “Tate” Edwards, 78, of 497 East Wayne Street, Bluefield, WV, died Friday
April 14, 2006 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born December 28, 1927 in
Tazewell County, VA he was a son of the late Meek and Macie Repass Edwards. Mr.
Edwards was a member of the Church of Christ at Maple View and loved to fish and
hunt. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean
Conflict.
In addition to his
parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Chuck, James, and John, a
sister; Mary, and a step-granddaughter; Beverly Daniels.
Survivors include; his
wife, Clara Stevenson Edwards of the home, a daughter; Debbie Hale and husband
David of Falls Mills, VA, three sons; Charlie Edwards and wife Debbie of
Bluefield, Ronnie Edwards and Randy Edwards of the home, and foster son; Tommy
Robertson and wife Connie of Cary, NC, two brothers; Dan Edwards and wife
Shirley of Leesburg, VA, Jack Edwards and wife Barb of Grand Rapids, MI, four
sisters; Lettie Lambert of Tazewell, VA, Ruby Redding and husband Al of
Middletown, VA, Lucie Hampton of Cleveland, OH, Connie Stevenson of Falls
Church, VA, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two
great-grandchildren any day now.
Funeral services will be
conducted Monday April 17, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the Mercer Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow from the
Grandview Memory Gardens Cemetery located in Bluefield, VA with military
graveside rites preformed by the Mercer County Veterans Council. Serving the
family as pallbearers will be; J.D. Edwards, Jerry Edwards, Danny Edwards, Larry
Lambert, Kenny Willis, Jamie Willis, Steve Hall, Donnie Lambert, Butch Sawyers,
and Danny Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be; Tommy Lambert, Jack Cox, Jr.
Cox, Jack Stevenson, Jimmy Berry, Earnest Frost, Pete Sawyers, Tom Shewey, Pat
Peavy, James Wallace, June Hall, and Jody Neel.
Friends may call at the
Mercer Funeral Home Sunday April 16, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
