John Hyatt “Chef John” Kibler, 58, of 1013 College Avenue, Bluefield, WV, went
to dance before Jesus on Tuesday September 19, 2006 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born November 11, 1947
in Norton Virginia, he was the son of Ann W. Kibler and the late Kenneth C.
Kibler. He had been a resident of Bluefield for most of his life and was the
Executive Chef at Fincastle Country Club for 25 years. He was a member of
Westminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Bluefield where he served as a
Deacon. He had also served as a member of the Worship and Music Committee as
well as the Relief and Compassion Committee. He was a passionate hand bell
ringer and in honor of his service the John Kibler Westminster Brass and
Handbell Musician’s Award for faithful service to the glory of God was
established. Mr. Kibler had attended the University of Virginia at Wise and
Bluefield State College for a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was also a candidate
for a Master of Arts in Humanities.
In addition to his
father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Richard Smith.
In addition to his
mother, survivors include his wife, Margaret S. Kibler, of the home; two sons,
Todd Walker Kibler of Bluefield, WV, and Jeremiah Smith Kibler and his wife
Keisha of Morgantown, WV; one daughter, Loucinda Kibler Copley and her husband
Christopher of Bluefield, WV; two sisters, Margaret Ann Boggess and her husband
Benny of Lexington, SC and Nina Hancock and her husband Mike of Johnson City,
TN; one sister-in-law, Janie Porter and her husband Mark of Morehead, KY; one
brother-in-law, J.R. Smith and his wife Billie Jean of Somerset, KY; two nieces,
Grace Ann Hancock of Johnson City, TN and Natalie Benedict of Somserset, KY; one
nephew, Christopher Wardlow of Morehead, KY ; mother-in-law, Betty Smith of
Somerset, KY and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will
be held Thursday September 21, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Westminster Presbyterian
Church with Rev. Howard Finkel officiating.
The family will receive
friends from in Patterson Chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday
from 10:30 until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the
Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1258, Bluefield, WV
