Bluefield, WV- Irene Carr, 92, of Westwood Health Care Center, died Monday September 18, 2006 in Bluefield, VA.

     Born January 19, 1914 in Bland County, she was the daughter of the Ezra Sarver and Maggie DeHart Sarver.  She was a member of Grace Conservative Baptist Church in Rocky Gap and was a homemaker. 

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey W. Carr; three brothers, Jack Sarver, Charlie Sarver and Harry Sarver; five sisters, Thelma Nelson, Ruth Bourne, Blanche Neal, Georgia McFarland and Mamie Childress; and two step children, Dewey Carr, Jr. and Vernon Carr.

      Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Kinder of Rocky Gap, VA, Vivian Buchanan of Roanoke, VA and Louise Phillips of Follansbee, WV; one step son, Bill Carr and his wife Onnie of Roanoke, VA; special friends, Jean and Buddy Boothe of Bluefield, WV; eight step grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

       Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Scaggs officiating.  Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley.

     Serving the family as pallbearers Dewey Carr, III, Vernon Carr, Grant Lilly, Ronnie Kinder, Teddy Kinder and Charles Sarver.  

     The family will receive friends Wednesday September 20th from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
