– Margaret Crockett Evans 81 of 1321 Lebanon Street Bluefield, WV died Sunday
September 10, 2006 at Carolina House of Cary, NC.
Born May 28, 1925 in
Welch, WV she was a daughter of the late Joseph McGavock Crockett and Mildred
Ritchie Crockett. Margaret was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of
Bluefield and a former member of Bramwell Presbyterian Church, Bramwell, WV. She
was a graduate of Stuart Hall and Hollins College, class of 1947 and was a
former teacher and bookkeeper for Evans Chevrolet in Pocahontas.
Active in Church, civic
and community affairs, she received the Westminster Presbyterian Church Women’s
Ministries Life Membership award and also served as Circle Chairman, Circle
Bible Teacher and member of the Missions Committee. She was the former Women’s
President of Bramwell Presbyterian Church, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader
and was active in Bluefield Union Mission and the Daughters of the American
Revolution.
In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George R. “Buddy” Evans Jr., a
sister Alberta Crockett Lewis and a brother J. Strother Crockett.
She is survived by three
daughters; Mrs. Ronald (Mildred) Carraway of Farmville, NC, Mrs. Bill (Margie)
Deck of Blacksburg, VA and Mrs. David (Robin) Kellerman of Cary, NC,
grandchildren Brett Carraway and Erin Carraway both of Farmville, NC, David
Kellerman, Jr. and Robert Evans Kellerman both of Cary, NC, Hannah Margaret Deck
and Jace Deck both of Blacksburg, VA.
Funeral services will be
conducted Wednesday September 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian
Church with Rev. Howard Finkle officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista
Park Cemetery in Green Valley where William Meade Lewis, Joseph M. Crockett, II,
James S. Crockett, James Gearhart, Billy Lewis and David Feretti will serve as
pallbearers.

September 12, 2006 at Mercer Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
