Bluefield, WV –Gay Wygal Hancock, born June 22, 1926,in Algoma, WV, passed away on Saturday June 9, 2007 at a Bluefield hospital, following a short illness.

   She was the daughter of the late Samuel Wygal and Emily Guy Wygal. A lifelong resident of the region, Gay Hancock was the proprietor of New-To-You Consignment Shop, a lifelong member of the Bland Street United Methodist Church, and attended Duke University.

   She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; M. M. “Spud” Hancock, and her son; Glen McConnell Hancock.

   Survivors include her children and their partners; Kathryn L. “Kitty” Hancock and Lorena Russell, and Laurence W. Hancock and Beth Sears. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Thomas M. Hancock and his wife Lindsay, Anne K. Hancock, and Rebecca E. Hancock. In addition, she is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.

    Graveside services for family and friends will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday June 13, 2007 at Monte Vista Park Cemetery located in Green Valley, with the Rev. David L. Hall, Jr. officiating.

   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to; The Mercer County Humane Society, 1003 Shelter Rd., Princeton, WV 24740.
