- Hazel Franklin Cook, 90 went to be with
the Lord on Tuesday June 6, 2006 in a Washington, NC nursing home. Living most
of her live of McDowell West Virginia and of Roanoke, VA after she retired. For
the past seven years, she had resided with her daughter, Sandra Maxwell in
Belhaven, North Carolina. She was born March 6, 1916 in Jenkins Jones, WV and
was the daughter of the late John and Annie Vernon Franklin. Mrs. Cook was a
Homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was a wonderful caring mother and
sacrificed mush for her three children. She was the last living member of her
family.
In addition to her parents
she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Cook who she loved and was
devoted to, sisters, Gladys Ann Lister, Ethel Mae Manley, Virginia Frances
Davis, Mildred Louise Hash, Beulah Maxine Wojcik and Doris Vivian “Shorty”
Owens, Brothers Harry Franklin, Everett Ray Franklin.
Surviving Mrs. Cook is her
daughter Sandra Maxwell and her husband Jerry of Belhaven, NC two sons: Ronald
Edward Cook and wife Faye of Suffolk, VA and Robert McCoy Cook, II and wife
Nancy of Dacula GA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren
and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside Memorial Services
will be conducted on Saturday June 10, 2006 at 10:30 AM from the Roselawn
Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Dr. Allan Hammond officiating. The family
will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday June 9, from 7PM – to 9PM.
