Florene Howard Hale, 84, of Bluefield, WV died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at
Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born February 7, 1922,
Flo was the daughter of the late Harry H. Howard and the late Celia Ellen Jessee
Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John
Smith Howard, formerly of Lebanon, VA, and a sister, Nell E. Howard, also of the
Lebanon area.
Mrs. Hale completed a
40-year career as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital. Her duties included
the responsibilities of a surgical nurse and she went on to become the operating
room supervisor. She is described by those who have previously worked with her
as being very dedicated. She completed her training at the St. Luke’s Hospital
School of Nursing.
She is survived by her
loving husband, Howard H. Hale, and on August 7th, 2006 they would have
celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. In addition to her husband, she is
survived by her only daughter, Patricia Hale Taylor and her husband Peter
Brookins Taylor of Bluefield, one sister, Mrs. Anna Miller, the wife of Marvin
E. Miller, of Belfast, VA, one brother, Garnet Robert Howard of Lebanon, two
granddaughters, Ashby Taylor Perkins, the wife of Zane Perkins of Wytheville,
VA, and Virginia (Jena) Brook Taylor of Bluefield, one great-grandson, Zane
Anthony Perkins of Wytheville, VA, and numerous family members and friends.
Funeral services will be
conducted at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bluefield, WV at 2:00 p.m. on
Sunday, June 4th with Dr. Charles Miller and Dr. Don Scott officiating.
Interment will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery located in Bluefield, VA.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive
friends at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield Saturday June 3, 2006
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family requests that
in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist
Church 401 College Avenue Bluefield, WV 24701.
