Princeton, WV- Joseph “Joe” Leroy Harris, 59, of 210 Glenwood Park Road, died Friday July 13, 2007 at his home.

     Born December 15, 1947 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Jackson Harris and Mary Munsey Harris.  Mr. Harris was a lifelong resident of the Bluefield area.  He was a self-employed construction worker and was also a Vietnam Era veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Helton; one granddaughter, Michayla Baugh and many brothers and sisters.  

     Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Baugh and her husband Robert of Bluefield, WV and Dallas Brown and her husband Brian of Belcamp, MD; brothers and sisters, Sarah Boice and her husband Lewin of Bluefield, WV, Cecil Harris of Bluefield, Anna Frye and her husband Jerry of Fort Worth, TX, Marjorie Hartery of Bluefield, VA, Freda Evans and her husband Sterling of St. Albans, WV, Fran Taylor of Bluefield, VA, Ronald Harris and his wife Joyce of Bluefield, VA and David Harris of Bluefield; one grandson Eric “Bubba” Baugh and one granddaughter, Brook Nicole Brown. 

     Funeral services will be conducted on Monday July 16, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Captain Jerry Lester officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour.

     In accordance with Mr. Harris’ wishes, his body will be cremated after the services are held.
