Bluefield, WV- James Murry Mayberry, 94 years and 11 months old, died Tuesday July 3, 2007 at Loving Hands Adult Care, Bluefield, WV where he had been a resident for five months.  He was born July 29, 1912 in Oakvale, WV.  He was the son of the late David “Pete” Mayberry and Dorothy Akers Mayberry of Ada.  He was a life long member of the Ada Union Church and was a co-founder of the Young Peoples Club and first president.

     During his working career he was a Master Machinist in the production of hardwood lumber and specialty materials for use by individuals, the construction industry in individual homes, commercial buildings, churches and the manufacturing of fine furniture and cabinets.  He retired from the Georgia Lumber Company of Bluefield, WV in 1977.  Previously he had worked for the Seyler Lumber Company of Bluefield, WV and Thayer Company, Falls Mills, VA.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Ruth Kitts of Bluefield, VA; sisters Pearl Akers of Princeton, Vada Thomason of Falls Mills; and brothers, Zebrom Thomas Mayberry of Oakvale, William Earnest Mayberry of Memphis, TN and Stuart L. Mayberry of Brushfork.

     He is survived by sisters Lillie Mayberry Richards of Herndon, Callie Mayberry Belcher of Princeton, Cleo Mayberry Ulch of Lapeer, MI, Alice Mayberry Roland and husband Albert of Princeton; brothers, David P. Mayberry, Jr. of Bluefield, WV and Clarence D. Mayberry of Kensington, MD; his nurse, Melissa Luccado, and many friends.

     Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Friday July 6th from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lacy Brooks and Captain Jerry Lester of the Salvation Army officiating.  Interment will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA.  Serving, as pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family.

     Friends may call at Mercer Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. on the evening of Thursday July 5th.
