Bluefield- Thelma Linkous
O’Dell Hines, 87,
of 2404 Fairfield Ave., Bluefield, WV, died Sunday August 6, 2006 at her home.
Born August 29, 1918 in Bluefield, WV she was a daughter of the late John
Washington and Grace Morrison Linkous.
Mrs. Hines was a
graduate of Beaver High School, a member of the Red Hat Society, Senior Friends
and a Lioness with the Bluefield Lions Club. Mrs. Hines was also an active
member of the College Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member the Women’s
Mission Union and the Gladys Keith Circle.
In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by; her first husband; James Owen O’Dell, her
second husband; James Price Hines, and three brothers; John Washington Linkous,
Jr., Thomas Stanley Linkous, and Franklin Morrison Linkous.
Survivors include two
daughters; Linda O’Dell Lopez and Husband Gonzalo Lopez, M.D. of New York, NY,
Barbara O’Dell Atwell and husband Eddy of Bluefield, WV, two sons; Larry Linkous
O’Dell and wife Dawn of Winter Haven, FL, and James Thomas O’Dell of Bluefield,
WV, two step-children; David Hines and wife Shirley of Bluefield, WV and Doris
Turner of Williamsburg, VA, five grandchildren; Lesa E. Borman, Christina G.
Spinale, Eddie O’Dell, Billy O’Dell, Eric Atwell, ten great-grandchildren;
Benjamin Spinale, Emily Spinale, Sarah Borman, Amy Borman, Rebecca Borman, Chris
O’Dell, Trevor O’Dell, Ethan O’Dell, Abby Atwell, and Sam Atwell.
Funeral services for
Mrs. Hines will be conducted Thursday August 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the
Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Woodson officiating. Burial will follow
from the Grandview Memory Gardens Cemetery located in Bluefield, VA.
Friends may call at the
funeral home Wednesday August 9, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Pall
Bearers will be; Eddie O’Dell, Billy O’Dell, Eric Atwell, Bill Borman, John
Spinale, Robert Linkous, David Hines, and Paul Sutphin. Honorary Pallbearers
will be; Eddy Atwell, Gonzalo Lopez, M.D., Bill Pasin, Bill Franklin, D. W.
Perdue and George Hendrickson.
