Mocksville, NC - Mrs. Catherine A. Walters, 86 of Mocksville, NC and formerly of Bluefield, WV died Sunday April 8, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem,NC.      

She was born February 14, 1921 in Roane County, TN to the late James Curtis Acuff and Reece George Ingram Acuff. She was a homemaker and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, W.Va. She was a Colonial Dame, served in World War II with American Red Cross in Italy. She will be greatly missed by her children, great grandchildren, and many friends.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Epperly Walters on March 1, 1987. She was the last surviving member of the Acuff family.

     Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca A. Boyles of Mocksville; two sons, Robert D. Walters and William R. Walters and his wife Donna, both of Ormond Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Cindy N. Walters, Catherine J. Boyles, Douglas W. Walters and Amanda Reece Boyles. 

     The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

     Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Howard Finkle officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery at Bluewell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Wednesday. Children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
