 Bluefield- Ruth Kirkwood Kersey, 89, of Bluefield, WV, died Friday July 8, 2005 at the Westwood Medical Center, Bluefield, VA.
Born August 23, 1915 in Bluefield, WV she was a daughter of the late Robert Earl and Martha Kate Harrison Kirkwood. Mrs. Kersey was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Bluefield of which she was involved in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Lois Russell Guild Circle, she was also a member of the Bluefield Union Mission Ladies Auxiliary and a Trustee on the Bluefield Cemetery Commission.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Dale R. Kersey and two brothers; Robert and Earl Kirkwood.
Survivors include; two daughters, Linda K. Blazer and husband Edward of Myerstown, PA, and Alice K. Matthews and husband Sonny of Bluefield, WV, and a son Glen E. Kersey of Austin, TX, a sister; Helen E. Kirkwood of Bluefield, WV, six grandchildren; Grace Blazer of Philadelphia, PA, Heather Leaman and husband Joe of Lititz, PA, Benjamin Blazer and wife Michelle of Philadelphia, PA, Justin Matthews of Huntington, WV, Jonathan and Graci Matthews both of Bluefield, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday July 11, 2005 at 11:30 A.M. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Craig Hammond officiating. A private burial for the family will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery located in Bluefield, WV.
