Bluefield, VA - Janet
Lynn Castle Flynn, 54 of Bluefield, VA died Wednesday September 28, 2005 in
Roanoke, VA. She was born in Welch, WV on October 10, 1950 to Raymond and Anna
Blevins Castle. The youngest of six children, she is survived by her mother Anna
of Myrtle Beach, SC; brothers Raymond Castle, Jr. of Filbert, WV and Jerry
Castle of Hickory, NC; sisters Joyce Coffey of Bluefield, WV, Clara Booher of
Charlotte, NC, and Jennie Moore of Myrtle Beach, SC, and devoted friend Ovid
Bailey (Columbus, OH).
She loved her children, Amy Christine Flynn of
Charlotte, NC, and Charles O. Flynn of Roanoke, VA, daughter-in-law Megan, and
grandchildren Adrienne, Harrison, and Avery.
A resident of Bluefield since 1963, Janet
graduated from Graham High School and earned her bachelors degree at Concord
College. Janet was active in the communities of both Bluefield’s, and was the
proud founder of the South Bluefield Merchants Association. She was a past
member of Beta Sigma Phi, past president of the East River Mountain Garden Club,
and a past director of the Chamber of Commerce. Her love of God, church, and
people turned her Maggie Bennett boutique into one of Bluefield's most effective
counseling and social clubs. She loved designing and building homes, and had a
knack for style and decor that she loved to share.
Janet passed away, surrounded by family and
friends, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was a member of Westminster
Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, WV. A memorial service will be held there,
Friday, September 30th at 5:30 in the evening with Rev. Brian Checchio
officiating. In lieu of flowers, Janet requested that donations be sent to the
