Bluefield, WV – Steve R. “Stevie” Burkhart, Jr. 30 of Rt. 2 Box 441 Bluefield died Tuesday December 6, 2005.

    Born December 10, 1974 in Bluefield, WV he was a son of Steve R. Burkhart, Sr. and Paula Richardson Burkhart of Bluefield, WV. He was of the Protestant faith and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church and was employed by Green Valley Excavation for many years.

    Stevie was a member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Claude Burkhart, maternal grandfather Bill Richardson, Sr., uncles Michael Burkhart and Billy Neal Richardson and cousin Matthew Spence.

    Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother Timothy David Burkhart, Sr. of Bluefield, paternal grandmother Nancy Burkhart, maternal grandmother Pauline Burton, Aunts; Deborah Nunn and her husband Larry, Linda Baldwin, Joann Neal and her husband Jody, Judy Neal and her husband Randy, Cathy Perdue and her husband Mike, Tamera Roberts and her husband Rick, Uncles Larry Burkhart and his wife Emma, Billy Richardson and his wife Jazz, special nephew Tim Burkhart, Jr. of Bluefield and special child Austin Sabo many special cousins and friends and girlfriend Sherry Staples. His dog “Yeller” also died with him.

    Funeral services will be conducted Monday December 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield with The Rev. Danny Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell, WV. Pallbearers will be Steve Cox, Matthew Cox, Tony Nunn, David Perdue, Aubrey Perdue and Mike Sabo. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bobby Lowe.

    Friends may call Sunday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, in memory of Stevie, be made to the Bluefield Lions Club, Sight Conservation Projects, P.O. Box 804, Bluefield, WV 24701.
