- Harley Clifford “Doc” Martin, 94 of 1612 Stadium Dr. Bluefield, WV died Monday
January 9, 2006 in a Bluefield hospital. Born April 19, 1911 in Washington
County near Bartlett, OH he was the son of the late William S. and Della F.
Jones Martin. He attended Bartlett High School and was a WWII Navy veteran and
retired from the N&W Railroad where he was a Crane Operator and past
secretary/treasurer for the Local Maintenance Way Employees .
Mr. Martin was the
oldest charter member of the Edgemont Baptist Church and married to the late Macie Hager Martin.
In addition to his wife and
parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Judy Janutolo and brothers; Roy,
John and Kenneth and sisters; Lena Hogue, Mildred Martin, Goldia Pruett and
Lucie Clark.
Mr. Martin is survived by a
daughter Ramona Cruise and her husband Philip of Bluefield and a son Roger and
his wife Mary Ruth of Bluefield, grandchildren; Debbie Carlyle and husband Tony
of Sanford, NC, Kevin Cruise and wife Suzanne of Apex, NC, Brian Janutolo of
Bluefield, Carla Janutolo of Bluefield, Vicky Martin of Princeton, WV, Paige and
Jason Martin both of Bluefield. Great-Grandchildren; Josh Carlyle of Sanford,
NC, Caroline Cruise of Apex, NC, Taylor, Dani and Jared Janutolo, of Bluefield,
Cali Surface of Bluefield and Laura Lee, and Derek Martin of Princeton, Aaron
and Jacob Martin of Bluefield,
Graveside Services will be
conducted on Friday January 13, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Grandview Memory
Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA with the Rev. Ken Owens officiating and
Mercer County Veterans Council providing Military Graveside Rites.
Pallbearers serving the
family will be Tape Ministry Men and Deacons from the Edgemont Baptist Church.
The Family will receive
friends on Thursday January 12, 2006 at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory from 6 –
8 PM.
