
Bluefield, WV
– William Jack Abbey 66 of 1600 Bland Street (The Maples) Bluefield, WV and
formerly of Frederick Street, died Tuesday January 10, 2006 at The Maples.
Born March 9 1939 in
Santa Monica, CA he was a son of the late Lewis Jack Abbey and Marjorie Opal
Emanuelson Abbey. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of
Cumberland Heights Baptist Church and previously served as Deacon, Trustee and
taught the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was the owner of the Rainbow Drive-In
Restaurant in Vansant, VA and also was employed at Jones Candy Company,
Bluefield, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister
Jacqueline Humphrey.
He is survived by one
daughter Laura Sadler and her husband Daniel of Branchburg, NJ, two
sons John Mark Abbey and his wife Anna of Bluefield, WV and Grey Abbey
and his wife Melissa of Keller, TX, a brother Lewis Abbey of Lancaster, CA, and
seven grandchildren David, Joshua and Sarah Sadler of Branchburg, NJ, Alisha and
Evan Abbey of Bluefield, WV and Simon and Samuel Abbey of Keller, TX.
Graveside services will
be conducted Saturday January 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery
in Green Valley with The Rev. Butch Honaker officiating. Friends of the family
will serve as pallbearers. Those attending services are asked to meet at Mercer
Funeral Home by 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
