Gertrude Mefford Mahoney, 93, of 1329 Montclair Street, Bluefield, WV died
Tuesday January 24, 2006 in a Bluefield hospital.
Born
October 10, 1912 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H.
Buttrey and Dorothy Kilmer Buttrey. Mrs. Mahoney was a homemaker and was a
member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the
Order of Eastern Star and the Golden Age.
In
addition to her parents, Mrs. Mahoney was preceded in death by her first
husband, D. H. Mefford; her second husband, James Oscar Mahoney; one daughter,
Sandra Mefford; two brothers, Carl and Bradley Buttrey; five sisters, Lillian R.
Buttrey, Ruby Carter, Josephine Jones, Dorothy Buttrey, and Helen Earl Buttrey.
Survivors include one
daughter, Norma Hedrick and her husband Bob of Bluefield, VA; two
granddaughters, Sherry Neice and Carla Eshleman; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral
services will be conducted Friday, January 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of
Mercer Funeral Home with Dr. Don Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Monte
Vista Park Cemetery.
Serving as
pallbearers will be members of the family.
The
family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
