Harry E. Sutherland, 75,
of 420 Monterey Hill, Bluefield, died Tuesday January 31, 2006 in a Bluefield
nursing home.
Born July 23, 1930 in
Bluefield, he was the son of the late T. C. and Blanche Combs Sutherland. Mr.
Sutherland was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a retired
supervisor from N & S Railroad with 40 years of service. He was a 50-year
member of the Riley Vest Post # 77 of the American Legion, a member of the
Princeton Elks Lodge #1459, the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge1079 and the Golf
Association.
Survivors include his
wife, Hazel Sutherland of the home; one sister, Jerry Henderson of Tempe, AZ;
one brother, T. C. Sutherland, Jr. of Bluefield and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday February 3, 2006 from the Mercer
Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Charles Miller and Dr. Don Scott
officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley.
Serving as pallbearers
will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Phelts, Howard
Hale, Babe Kensinger, Carlton Viar and L.L. “Friday” Barrett.
The family will receive
friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.at the funeral home.
