Mrs. Avis W. Brown, 93, formerly of 428 Monterey Hill, Bluefield, died February
22 in Hamilton, Ohio, at Birchwood Care Center.
Mrs. Brown was born May
22, 1912 in Bluefield, W. VA, daughter of Lucian and Estella Jane Woiblett, and
was married to Arthur H. Brown for 51 years. She had one son, Ronald L. Brown,
and two brothers, Emil and George Woiblett. All have preceded her in death.
Avis was a longtime
member of Grace United Methodist Church, Bluefield, and a Past Worthy Matron in
the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of East Williamson Baptist Church,
Williamson, W.Va. for the many years she lived there.
She is survived by
three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reno and her husband Kerry of Lebanon, Ohio,
Jeffrey Brown and his wife Kim of Hurlock, Maryland, and Julie Cruit and her
husband Dan of Lancaster, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Lillie Woiblett of Lexington,
Virginia, daughter-in-law Linda Brown of Lancaster, Ohio, six
great-grandchildren, Brad and Katy Reno, Hunter and Carson Brown and Sarah and
Evan Cruit, one great, great-grandchild, Sydney Reno, two nephews Emil II and
George II Woiblett, and a neice, LynnBeth Marable, whom she dearly loved.
Funeral services will
be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, in the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev.
Carl Van Stavern and Rev. Nancy White officiating. The family will receive
friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Interment will
follow at Maple Park Cemetery.

family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association, 1200 Quarrier Street, Suite 4, Charleston, WV, 25301.
