Bluefield-
Joe “Joey” Lee Carter, Jr., 48, of 508 Memorial Ave., Bluefield, WV died
Saturday March 4, 2006.
Born October 4,1957 in
Bluefield, WV, he was a son of Joseph Lee Carter, Sr. and step-mother Naomi
Carter of Bluefield, VA.
Mr. Carter was preceded
in death by; his mother, Dixie Evans Carter, grandparents; Tom and Ruby Carter
and Brooks and Louise Evans, and an aunt; Charlotte Carter.
Joey was a graduate of
Bluefield High School and attended New River College. He was an avid fisherman
and a loyal West Virginia Mountaineer Fan.
In addition to his dad
and step-mother he is survived by his fiancé Abby Parker and her children,
Ashley and Brittany Gillespie, a sister; Anna Marie Carter of Graham, NC, a
step-sister; Pam Johnson of Princeton, WV, aunts; Patty Davidson of Bluefield,
VA, Fern Lineberry of Bluewell, Tommie Johnson of PA, and Priscilla ”Cookie”
Denny of CA.
Funeral services will be
conducted Thursday March 9, 2006 at 2 P.M. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. Howard Finkel officiating. Burial will follow from the Monte Vista
Park Cemetery located in Green Valley. Pallbearers will be; Tony Wagner, Lee
Gilley, Barry Davidson, Pete Perdue, Dwayne Beck, Tony Harris, John Gardner,
Bill Moore, and Sam Elliot.
The family will receive
friends at the funeral home Wednesday March 8, 2006 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00
P.M.
