Lunenburg, VA- Margaret Kish Coles, age 87,of Lunenburg, Virginia died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at the W. S. Hundley Extended Care Facility in South Hill, Virginia. She had resided there since February 28, 2001.  She was a former resident of 2807 Locust Grove Drive, Bluefield, W.Va. for over 50 years.

            Margaret was born March 23, 1918, in Ottawa (Boone county), West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Albert Kish and Emma Kovach McGalliard. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was never happier than when she was enjoying God’s creatures. Cats never had a chance when Margaret was on patrol to keep her birds safe.  In her youth she worked in her families’ businesses, The Presto Lunch and The City News Stand.  She was a retired long-distance operator for the General Telephone Company.  Margaret, “Sister Coles”, as she was known to them, was a faithful member of her little church down the hill, Grace Independent Baptist Church, Grassy Branch Road, Bluefield, W Va.

          Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a daughter, Martha Diane Coles (1947) and her sister, Emma “Petty” Woodall (1990).

          She is survived by her two girls, Ernestine “Teeny” Lienhard and husband, Ben, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Margaret “Mitty” Crymes and husband, Al, of Lunenburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Claire Holmes and husband, Rick, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Chris Lienhard and wife, Monae, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; David Lienhard and wife, Yvonne, of Catonsville, Maryland; Elizabeth Currin and husband, Brian, of Victoria, Virginia, and Charlie Crymes of Charlottesville, Virginia; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha and Emma Holmes; Ian, Beata, Julia, Alec, and Devin Lienhard; and Jacob Currin. Her brother, George Kish, and wife, Margie, of Bluefield, West Virginia.; brother-in law, Earl Woodall, of Wytheville, Virginia and 3 nephews, also survive her.

            The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 2:00pm on Monday, July 4th, immediately preceding the funeral at 2pm in Mercer Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield with the Reverend George H. Stamper officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

            Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Independent Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1443, Bluefield, WVAA loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was never happier than when she was enjoying God’s creatures.
