Bluefield, WV- Mildred Evelyn Brewer Pruett, 95, of Glenwood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, and formerly of 133 Mountain View, Bluefield died March 9, 2006 at a Bluefield hospital.

     Born December 18, 1910 in Rural Retreat, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Winton Brewer and Margie May Shupe Brewer.  Mrs. Pruett was a secretary at General Adjustment Bureau and was a member of Bland Street United Methodist Church where she was in the Upper Level Club. 

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vergil Hufford Pruett, whom she married in 1938; one daughter, Judith Pruett Garner; one brother, Robert C. Brewer; and two sisters, Ruby N. Brewer and Louise Brewer White.

     Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Akers and her husband Stuart of Gilroy, CA; one sister, Helen Brewer Shelton of Canton OH; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Akers of Clovis, CA, Susan Akers of Wall, SD, Raymond Garner of Warm Springs, GA and Mary Catherine Garner Goins of Huntersville, NC. 

     Graveside services will be conducted Monday March 13, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery with Rev. David Hall, Jr. officiating.  Those wishing to attend the services are asked to meet at the cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the Bluefield Union Mission, 2203 Bluefield Avenue, Bluefield, WV 24701.
