Most families hold services of some kind which help the bereaved cope with the loss of a loved one. It may be a funeral or memorial service or a simple prayer at grave side or other place of remembrance. Services or ceremonies may precede or follow that actual cremation. Prior to cremation, there may be a period of visitation, either public or private with an open or closed casket.
